It is unknown for what occasion W. A. Mozart composed the Kyrie in D minor KV 341 (368a), but its structure and instrumentation would suggest that he had a large-scale mass in mind, which remained unfinished. It was probably written around the same time as the Idomeneo while Mozart was staying in Munich, between November 1780 and March 1781.
