Music for Easter

Throughout the history of classical music, many composers have drawn inspiration from the church and its stories. In particular, the Easter season has given rise to some of the most remarkable music. We’ve compiled a list of some of our most popular titles which will be performed by choirs and organists all around the world for this solemn and celebratory season.

All of these titles and many more are available through your favourite Chimes location or online. Don’t forget that we offer discounts on larger bulk orders for choirs and other musical organisations; please get in touch!

Vocal Repertoire

The Passions are among the largest scale and most performed works of J.S. Bach. The St John Passion (BWV 245) and the St Matthew Passion (BWV 244) were written in 1724 and 1727, respectively. They are wonderful, tragic and beautiful works with a wealth of extraordinary music.

Both works are scored for SATB chorus, soloists and chamber orchestra. We stock a variety of editions – orchestral parts are also available by request.
